People go through peaks and valleys in their development, and it drags down motivation.
People see progress, plateau, then have to push through to keep growing. Yet, when you plateau it is easy to lose motivation since you don’t see the rate of gain you become accustomed to experiencing.
This is not a new phenomenon, and something I’ve mentioned before.
The practice is still one I subscribe to and push rather often when people seek me out for guidance. I often find myself having to further explain what I meant in the post and by the philosophy. Really, it’s simple; I haven’t explicitly brought up the equation in over two years in a post, but it basically is the underlying principle to the entire life/style section of 1amgeek and the posts written in it.
Life Success = Health + Wealth + Relationships
When I spoke in originally on this topic, the multidimensionality I referenced really meant having something productive going on in each of these three areas (with relationships being more than just the romantic variety but about establishing a social circle and professional network). When I nail this down with people, the overlaying of cycles make more sense and something clicks within people.
So why revisit this topic?
It a serendipitous turn of events, I was just musing a week ago about this post and how I was operating under it in my own life since a turn of recent life events (which I’ll delve into in an upcoming post).
Then a few days ago Brad Branson, a lifestyle guy of much larger prominence than I and someone I’ve referenced on 1amgeek before, put out a video titled “The Cycles of Immersion & Maintenance: The Key to Success While Living a Balanced Life.” The video reinforces the principles I brought up originally and truly drives them home, so it’s worth the 8 minutes.
Ask yourself what you’re doing to stay motivated and if you’re pushing yourself in all three arenas of the success game, and what more you can do to take it to the next level.
